Ladies - Weights Don't Make You Muscley

My female clients always ask me when the start training with me "I'd like to learn how to use weights....but I don't want to get mucsly" This is one of the most common questions that I get asked as a personal trainer based at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth. The question is asked so often because of the very old fashioned thinking that when women weight train, it makes you bulky.

Let me tell you some facts......when I see the transformations with my female clients lifting weights make you strong, lean, fit, shapely and sexy. I always recommend that women of all ages should lift weights, plain and simple.

I am a living example of weights making you look confident, strong and feel incredibly sexy....as a 51 year old woman that is something very special. Don't get me wrong, it takes a lot of hard work to build a strong body, but believe me consistent training with me will get you the body of your dreams.

Why Weights Won't Make You Muscly

There are two big reasons why you won't get muscly:

1 - Women Don't Have Enough Testosterone

Science tells us that women have higher levels of estrogen and progesterone and much lower levels of testosterone than men. Women simply don't grow the muscle tissue to the same degree as men, even when lifting heavy.

What does happen though is that your body will develop all the right curves in the right places and keep you slim where you need to be

2 - You Don't Eat Enough

in order to grow your muscles need you to be in a calorie surplus .... eating more calories than your body needs to maintain weight. What you will do though, when I put you on one of my meal plans is that you'll eat the right balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat to ensure that you reduce your fat levels and increase the shape and tone of your muscles. Together, we can achieve this as part of my 12 week transformation courses. You'll be amazed how much things can change in such a short period of time.

The Benefits of Ladies Lifting Weights

Lifting weighs, make no mistake can completely change a woman's life. Take it from me and all my clients who all tell me how training with me has changed every part of their lives. The main benefits that I see from women lifting weights include:

Keeping the Menopause At Bay

As you hit the perimenopause, a woman's estrogen starts to massively drop, muscle wastage increases, bones often get more fragile and the amount of visceral fat (the fat that you don't want around your thighs and tummy) increases....together with weight gain.

Weight training ladies, let me tell you as someone who has hit the perimenopause can completely save your and help you avoid all the downsides of this very challenging period in in a woman's life. What's more, as you hit the menopause training with weights continue to be the best and most healthy way to stay, lean, fit and healthy.

You'll Improve Bone Density

Women are far more likely to develop osteoporosis than men. This is a fact backed by science many times over. The good news is that lifting weights helps prevent bone less and can actually increase bone density (even for those who already have osteoporosis), which helps avoid bone fractures which are common for many women. If you're looking to keep ift over 40, please ladies, don't avoid lifting weights!!

You'll Change Your Body Composition

Building muscle mass will increase your metabolism, burning more calories, even at rest....the good news is this will help you lose weight even when you're not in the gym. Let me help you become a calorie-burning machine.....building muscle, reducing the fat, creating curves and giving you the body you've always wanted.....at any age!

You'll Feel Empowered

Many women find that starting to lift wight is very intimidating, but I can help you easily lose this fear and quickly start to feel empowered....something only lifting weights can bring. I know that you'll start to feel more confident (as my clients tell me) and energised, ready to face everyday life and all that it throws at you. It will positively effect your work, your relationships and support you achieving your goals
